Doubles noted Sonic’s very visible confusion. That being said he couldn’t blame the guy all too much— did he perhaps arrive late to this scene? ”I see you’re confused there Sonic— its a time-travel situation, but worry not, I’ll explain when the situation is less awkward or dangerous.” Doubles subtly tilted his head towards the tall white tiger and then to Sonic. ”For now my good man, can you to keep an eye out for any funny business from anyone? I trust you, I know you’re more than fast enough.” Doubles nodded to Sonic, full confidence in him.
All of a sudden, a frozen orb cracked under pressure and ceased holding a solid form. Caroline’s painful reaction urged Doubles to stay closer to her despite the jolt— should she need any support to stay conscious or standing. Even so, there was this ‘memory’ to examine. Connecting the dots from what he knew so far, Doubles did not place blame on either Robin or Caroline as much as they both thought it was on them. It pained Doubles to see such promising youths in such a state of woe. Still, they both wanted to do what was right in the end; save and cure Sapphire… Nothing worth doing was always easy, and their goal was more than worth accomplishing.
Now, Doubles had practically put two and two together already, but the content of the memory further proved his suspicions. As far as he could tell, Sonic was Sapphire and Caroline’s father, the question was who could the mother be? Earlier, Caroline’s very specific reaction to the mysterious tiger within the group was certainly worth noting.
The memory ended with another jolt back into reality, and already Doubles was reassessing and recalculating everything. He felt pride when Caroline stood her ground and took responsibility, looking to the task ahead rather than contributing to any fuss.
To Caroline’s uncertainty, Doubles had a few words. ”Those times are not this time. You won’t know how far you’ve likely come if you don’t try… Besides, no time like the present, right?” He added with a chuckle. Situational puns were awesome, and a little bit of morale boosting humor never hurt. There was still the matter of his admittedly high stakes plan to explain. ”Of course I’m sure.” The declaration came without even a moment of hesitation, he noted the uncertainty in Caroline and an odd conviction in the Orbians. The two were connected, so were they trying show something? If these Orbians were connected to Caroline’s power, did they believe in what Doubles had said? Well, there was only one way to find out. ”I wouldn’t have come this far to save lives if I wasn’t sure.”
Caroline’s reaction to Doubles’ little tomfoolery regarding his current appearance gave him more of a pep in his step as he walked forward. If she now knew without a doubt who he was, then the Orbians would too, as would her other side. Weirdly enough, Doubles felt as though said other side was putting faith in im earlier. Was that still true? If it was, he planned to deliver on his promise.
Passing Sakura as he made his way forward, Doubles caught her suggestion and paused. He had an interesting rebuttal to give too. ”There will be no need. If they are connected to Caroline in the way I am thinking, speak to them as if you were speaking to her— as a friend.” Doubles gave Sakura a single encouraging fingergun gesture and continued onward.
”That is true is it not? The connection you have to Caroline?” Doubles openly asked to the remaining Orbians. ”Then you know well enough how much she in her entirety wants to save her sister. I know you do. In a moment of unspeakable sadness and grief, when she saw the condition her sister was in… You felt it, didn’t you? That is why you are lashing out so readily. That raw emotion is what gave you form, correct? That shock, guilt and stress...” He paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. ”Is not something I will allow you to suffer alone!” Though it was a message to the Orbians that were part of Caroline, it was a message to Caroline as well, both expressions of her being. ”You know that too. Because you know exactly who I’m going to be in the future.”
