" I must agree, I never seen so much technologies in one place until I came here." The vixen felt relieved that she wasn't the only from the old world to feel awkward around the locals. "it's strange how they all rely on these tiny...plastik...box? They touch and talk to it all the time." Said Valentine who didn't knowhow to use a cellphone nor what it was.

Valentine was surprised that her interlocutor spoke English. Which was an interesting surprise. "I'm from the old world. To the west there's a small village near what once was the capital of Rus." She smiled to the stranger and reach out for his hand. She though that maybe the male wanted a handshake? It wasn't something she was used to but it seemed to be a social convenance around.

"they come from my homeland."She said with a heavy Slavic accent. The young shopkeeper wasimpressed to find someone who spoke in a language of the old world. She placed her hands on her lap and bowed to the stranger. "Please, have a look around and let me know if you need anything" She said to the tall wolf.

Mobotropolis / A familiar scent (Lukas and Valentine only)

It was morning, Valentine had just flipped her sign to ''open'' and went inside her store. All the flowers were still asleep until she opened the blinds. She had just announced a sale to attract customers. It was the perfect occasion to put on display the Orchids she had imported from the old world and had cared for until they would bloom. The Vixen set the tables outside and placed the delicate flowers on it. Their delicate scent reminded her of her home village, Lena in the eastern forests of the old world. Her familiar was nowhere to be seen and the air was just a little chilly, not too cool. But it wasn't too warm either. The Vixen tied up her apron around her waist and a scarf in the hair. The store was ready for the sale.

''No, he's wise enough to avoid being around those dreaded plants. And well, freezing them would ruin the roots. You're a wizard, aren't you suppose to learn about magical plants?''She asked the porcupine while giving him an inquisitive look.''Perhaps I should just do it myself without help, their screams are deafening and sometimes can kill an average adult. That's why Poe stays away and usually Sacha helps me, he is a ranger and a good botanist. He grew up taking care of mother's garden when I was too young to.'' She explained briefly before grabbing the leaf of the plant, she was about to pull the roots out.

''Anyhow I need to request your help to help me pick the mandragora out of the ground, but they are pesky plants.'' She said grabbing her sickle and shovel from the wall and headed outside to go in the garden. At first glance, it looked like a normal garden, but something was off. There were a few poisonous plants growing and a few more that definitely weren't common trade around. The Vixen walked up to the mandragoras she had grown and grabbed the leaves of one of those nasty plants. ''I must warn you, these plants have semi-sentient roots that tend to be anthropomorphic in shape. It's a form of aggressive mimicry and they have quite the defence capabilities, so I hope you are ready because I won't be able to protect you.''

Val was still sweeping the floor when she sensed a strong magical aura. 'It must be my guest...' She thought and left the broom finish the job by itself while she went to open the door. ''Reck! Please do come inside, I was just sweeping, but the broom can handle it.''She said chuckling and presented her kitchen with a gesture. ''This would be where I craft spells and brew potions, and hehe...''She felt a little embarrassed that she hadn't prepared anything to snack for her guest. ''Are you hungry? Or thirsty? I have water from the well and I think pickled turnips.''She kindly offered him.

Everywhere Else / The mundane life of a witch. (Valentine and Reck only)
« on: August 02, 2018, 08:19:28 am »
After her escapade in town from a while ago, Valentine had remained to her quiet cottage in the forest. She had taken her time to prepare provisions and pickle food and various organic components that her brother had brought her from his hunting parties. The Witch happily sang to herself while sweeping her kitchen for she had invited a guest to join her for the day. Her mandragoras had grown nice and well but she required assistance to pick them and Sacha was away and didn't say when he'd be back. Val knew that he usually meant that he wouldn't be here for days and the vixen would have to occupy herself and clean the house before doing any magic ritual or summoning. After all, a clean house was a good house. ''And as you sweep the room. Imagine that the broom is someone that you love.  And soon you'll find you're dancing to the tune''She sang while sweeping. It was the first time she had company, it was the right opportunity to purify the house. While a few house spirits danced to her song, two brownies went outside to milk the goat, knowing they would be fed later as would the domovoi who followed her from the old word to care about her house in the new world.

''Why would I eat the claws of a bear? Don't bear like their claws on their fingers like everyone else's having claws?''She asked innocently while pulling out one of her claws trying to figure out why would someone eat claws at all. Her familiar though shook it's head as his mistress innocence could be seen as quaint while he was tired of her ignorance. ''I think I will try the thing with strawberries and the...sweet coffee? yes, this!'' She said enthusiast of trying something new with her friend. The bakery's clerk was at the loss why Valentine asked so many weird questions but deduced from her accent that she wasn't from around but he noticed the raven on her shoulder. ''Miss, I am sorry to say that pets are not allowed here. We serve food here and pets are sometimes filthy so please leave or leave your bird outside.'' While Valentine had no idea of what the clerk was talking about, Poe was seething with a rage of being called a filthy pet and was about to ruin their covers and turn the clerk into a slimy toad.

Val walked around the bakery and saw so many things she didn't understand but the intoxicating smells pleased her. She bit her lips so she was nervous in this strange place. But Poe was watching her, he knew that his mistress was colour blind and all the smells could easily trick her. When she tried to pick a pastry that looked appealing to her, the raven shook his head. Something was wrong with it but he wouldn't say what. ''Reck, what would you suggest I try? It seems so difficult and I never had any of those before. Can you help me, friend?''

''Dough...nuts? Why would nuts be made of dough? Do they serve any purpose?'' All the strange questions she asked despite living in a more modern area and her remote village in the woods. Naturally her familiar knew what it was but for the sake of his mistress said nothing for she had to learn more on her own at some point. That's when the vixen walked to the shop, and to her surprise, they served the hot beverage she had been inquiring about, coffee. When she entered the shop her nose was invaded and intoxicated by the various aromas floating through the hair. She recognized a few of them as described in her book of shadow but never expected them to be used in pastry making.

Val seemed wary about the security lights and looked up at the sky. She didn't mind a little rain much less a storm.  Though it was a little sad that she wouldn't have to experience coffee. Although other shops might be open still like the pastry shop and perhaps they'd serve something good to try out.''Why don't we go over there, the pastry shop seems to be open. She suggested and pointed them out the shop. Her familiar was still wary of the whole town but decided to say nothing.

''Alright, I suppose we should give him a chance and go try the drinks. Besides, I too was looking forward to trying coffee anyway.''
The vixen smiled at the porcupine and gave a soft look to her familiar which seemed more curious about the hedgehog than afraid of it. Although he had a good laugh at the hedgehog's expense.

''I must apologize for the fear I tried to instil into you about witch-hunting. Being a familiar made me live for centuries and I've had my fair share of experiences such as the old witch-hunt. I suppose I will never truly get used to this era, all the inventions your people made and the destruction you brought upon yourselves. Unless you count that strange creature who uses metal beasts to destroy you."

The bird was indeed a grim creature, especially compared to his mistress who was a young and clueless fox who had no knowledge of the modern world. It made them a very hectic duo to look at.

Val was puzzled as to what Vance was saying, was there any danger? Or did Poe just tried to scare the stranger away from them? Knowing Poe both were equally possible. But he did agree to pay the drinks which seemed reassuring, maybe he wasn't a threat at all. Although, she decided to remain prudent. She knew nothing of him and Poe didn't help but Reck seemed to be trustworthy so she stepped from behind him and bowed to the stranger without saying a word. On the other hand, Poe was scanning the hedgehog from head to feet to try and discover anything that would indicate a threat.

Val sniffed the air, something was off. A strange scent was floating around it was neither the scent of a mundane Mobian nor a wild one. Her Senses were assailed by another aura, one that didn't come from the wizard nor her familiar but another craft user. He certainly was from a different tradition for she didn't recognize the signature of the craft user's aura. A shiver ran down her spine and she took a step behind Reck as he seemed to have noticed it as well but both had a different approach on how to deal with this situation. If there was a thing she learnt from her grandmother it was to be careful in the presence of witches from a different tradition. Soon after Poe landed on Val's shoulder to observe the stranger from a closer point of view.

''Not introducing oneself first before attempting to converse with strangers is considered to be rude in many cultures, yours is certainly not an exception. Besides, since when does one speak of the craft as a mundane subject in plain sight of the mortals surrounding us. This is a public area and not the right context to engage in such topics. We wouldn't want more witch-hunting, now wouldn't we?''Poe was at it again, being rude to anyone coming too close to his mistress. The Familiar was a little protective of her, especially in the presence of strangers and even more when it came to magic users.
