The lack of a tactical approach against him, meant that James had an easy time to keep the stun attacks at bay with his shield. He couldn't retaliate right now, but he was confident the others would compensate for his lack of attacking.
"Understood, moving up," he called to Blaze and went to speed up his advance to match the swordfighter's advance.

Next thing he knew he was suddenly on top of his shield rather than pushing up against the robots. Moreover, he was speeding down a steep hill with the shield being his sled. He didn't know how it happened, it happened to fast, like the snap of a finger. Moreover, he was on the verge of falling off the shield as he managed to dodge one of the trees on the way down. He wasn't going to stand for this though and once on a slightly open part, grabbed the shield and rolled off onto his back. This, thanks to the armor, slowed him down, although it caused a sudden jerk in his army that really stung. It didn't stop him for sliding down the hill either, but he had a bit more control to avoid the trees.

Once he reached the bottom of the hill, the impact made him grunt in pain from the sudden stop. He was finally in control again though and started to run back to the battlefield. For now he was isolated though, but he was understandably pissed. Whoever did this was gonna get a stern punishment for this.

James looked as he heard Shadow going on the offensive, he hadn't expected it but let it be as he kept moving towards the location of the SOS. He was then taken aback as he was engulfed in a bubble before he was moved to where Sonya was hiding out. The sudden shift to the tree did mess with his balance and nearly caused him to fall to the ground, but he managed to balance out and kneel down to try and hide despite his armour not being very well disguised. He remained silent at first as he listened to what the others had to say.

"Well, regardless of what has happened, we have to do something. I agree that Rouge is good at information gathering," he said, nodding to the bat, he was glad to see her again, "i can at least to my best to provide a distraction. It's not like i can sneak past the robots anyway, might as well cause a commotion and draw them away."

He was cut off by the doctor demanding that they were to be found and a search squad soon had them located and opened fire on the with stun rounds. He tried to get his own shield out from being resting on his back, but Sonya was faster to raise an energy shield around them as the voice sent shiver down the shepherd's spine. That voice? It was impossible to mistake, but it shouldn't be... that man was dead.
Nevertheless, he had to focus as another freedom fighter came in and caused a literal firewall to try and distract the robots. Sonya then capitalized on it converted their shield into a shockwave directed at the robots.

Seeing an opportunity, James jumped out of the tree, unhooked his shield and raised it while extending it to cover his entire body while standing. He knew staying the tree wouldn't work as he couldn't get a proper stance, he needed to be on the ground. He took a good grasp and made sure his stance was proper, then he started to move forward slowly as a large target for the robots to shoot at.

James jerked awake as he heard his comm-link go off. He let out a low annoyed groan as he looked at his alarm clock, it wasn't even 5AM.
"Figures," he mumbled and picked up the comm-link and turned it on, "this better be good."
The message meanwhile made him snap to attention and all ideas of going back to sleep was knocked out of his mind as he got up and dressed himself to get go into the field.

Once he was dressed in his field uniform, complete with his underlying suit, armour, extendable ballistic shield, and pistol he headed out towards where the SOS was coming from. He tried to be quiet, but he was wearing heavier armour and he wasn't exactly stealthy given his size. So he was rather easy to spot. However, duty called, and he'd answer it as he always did.
"This is police officer James Mitchell, responding to SOS," he said into his earpiece, using the same frequency to try and reach Sonya, "i am on my way to your position, remain calm and stay put."

Lushvale Village / Re: Team Stars (ARC)
« on: September 13, 2019, 12:58:42 am »
The fall of the city weighed heavy on James after they fled. He was beyond grateful for the help Soul and Sonic had lend him so that he wasn't dead, but it did leave him with what felt like a hole in his heart. The amount of people killed in the attack and subsequent eradication had left him feeling hollow and uncertain of what to do now. What could even be done in light of this act? Everything just seemed so hopeless and empty after this crushing defeat.

However, when he heard the broadcast from Twinkle, it quickly became apparent to him what he had to do if he ever wished to feel better again. He had to help fight back, do something to get back at the doctor. He wanted to avenge those lost and make amends for the police force's failure to protect them. With his mind set, he headed off towards Lushvale Village for this meeting. He wasn't the most secretive of mobians given his size and armor, however, he was beyond caring at this point. He was going to get there, no matter what.

James was pulled free by the Blue blur and passed to the cyan one as he was told to hold on tight. He complied without a second thought. He dared to look back as the golden light intensified. He had a feeling he'd be staring death in the eye. However, what he saw was time slowing down and preventing the weapon from firing. It made him sigh in relief. At least now people had a chance to escape.

The relief was short lived though as Infinite came for them with more of his red and black energy attacks. This times in the form of pillars coming for them from beneath. He didn't really have too much input as he relied on the hedgehog to get through this.
"You don't have to tell me twice," he said as he tightened his grip and tried to lower his profile, "i owe you one for this!"
The evasive actions didn't affect him too much, he had a strong stomach, besides, he was just happy they were almost out of the city, "we'll get him for this. That i vow."

James was rather shocked when the blue blur appeared before him and offered to help him out of the quicksand. He wasn't sure what to think of it, but he wasn't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.
"Yes, i do," he said and reached out for the Hedgehog, "please, i don't want to die here... not like this."

That was when another blue hedgehog dropped in, although he was more cyan blue in appearance. He too offered to help him out and once again, James didn't object. He was just happy someone had come to help him out before the city was purged of all organic life.

James didn't find much success while fumbling with his radio, so instead he tuned it to an unscrambled emergency frequency. It would mean everyone could hear what he was saying... but it hardly mattered. Eggman had air superiority and his forces was everywhere, it wouldn't matter if they knew what he was up to or where he was. He was likely dead regardless.

That was when he felt the ground he stood on give way under him and as he looked down he saw he was standing on quicksand and it was starting to suck him down. He gasped and looked for something, anything to grab onto in order to pull himself out of the sand. Even as he wasn't pulled all the way down, he was stuck and locked in place inside the alley he had taken cover in. Part of him thought it couldn't real, but he was currently too pressured to acknowledge that part of his mind. Instead, he tried to find a secure hold and pull himself up.

Things did brighten up somewhat as he heard one of the battleships come crashing down, but he couldn't see it, nor could he see a lot of the fighting in general. He could still hear it though and what he heard next shook him to the core. Eggman was counting down to their eradication and he could do nothing about it. He was just dead in the water. With no other option remaining, he turned on the radio.
"To anyone out there, this is Riot Officer James Mitchell!" he yelled in a panicked voice as his professional facade started to break, "i am dead in the water in an alleyway not far from the civilian rally spot! Two alleys down on the right! I need help! Please!"

James had tried to help the civilians to a safe zone while they got things under control. However, it was all for nothing as Eggman's airborne fleet of ships turned their guns on the safe zone and gave it everything they had. They never stood a chance, James barely did as he raised his shield to protect himself from the blast of the impact. Even then, the shock wave sent the Caucasian Shepherd flying backwards into a wall with a pained gasp collapsing against it.

He didn't really know how long he was sitting against the wall, probably not for too long, but it felt like forever as time seemingly slowed for him as he looked on the devastation the battleships had wrought. So much death and suffering... and he had no way of fighting back. Nevertheless, he wanted to figure out how to do it. He saw the freedom fighters starting to launch a counter attack, but he was not a super... meta... whatever the designation was. He needed to get up there another way.
Putting his shield on his back to make it less cumbersome, he quickly left the street so he wasn't in the open. Then he started to fiddle with radio frequency... he didn't recall it exactly, but he hoped he could tune it to the Freedom Fighter's radio. With any luck he could reach out to survivors and try to figure out what he exactly could do.

The night had started out fairly normal. James had shown up at the police precinct with the rest of the night shift and settled in for another quiet night. It had been another quiet workday. They were a skeleton crew and just monitoring radios and drinking coffee or energy drinks to keep going through the night. Same as usual.

That was when they started receiving calls, and not just one, but a lot of them. As in the operator couldn't keep track and others had to step in to help him. However, despite the sheer quantity, they found they all told the same story. They were under attack and there was mass panic in the streets. The sudden nature of the whole situation caught most of them off guard as they started to suit for it, even if they weren't the army. They also started to call out and get every single officer they possible could to show up to the station, although they got very few responses much to their horror.

Just as they were about to get into the squad cars and head out, the attack reached them and the front door was blown open as the Doctor's mechanized assault force breached the building and went at them guns blazing. Most of the police officers out in the front never got to draw their weapon to defend themselves and were instead cut down on the spot while getting out of their chairs.
James and the rest of the riot police tried to mount a defense as they fell back, but even with their weapons and armor they were powerless against the doctor's mechanized fists. It got even worse when the robots started to use gas and spread it through the precinct's ventilation system. With no hope of ever holding their base, James and the last remaining survivors were forced to abandon the position and flee into the city to try and salvage this.

However, as they saw the chaos and heard the screams, they realized how futile their efforts were. They were facing something way out of their league. The other officers chose to abandon it all completely in favor of checking on their own families and find a way to save them. This left James on his lonesome as he tried to figure out what to do. This was grim... and he was on his own now. He needed help, one way or the other, the question was from where.
With that, he continued moving through the city, trying to find others survivors willing to stand against the threat. All the while trying to provide as much help to the civilians as he could.

Arc 1 / Re: Hail Hellfire (Prelude)

Hello there, i would love to partake in this.

James Mitchell stands ready to uphold the law and order of the Acorn Kingdom.

11
Once they were done and the rest of the staff had left, James let out a sigh and turned to face her.
"So it would seem," he said with a little smile, "what do you plan we do until then? We got the place to ourselves."

12
"Me neither," James admitted with a light chuckle as he reached for a towel, "something that isn't just us at a café. It is something new for both of us."
Her suggestion was met with a nod, "alright, let's do it like that. We'll be done in no time."

13
James listened in as Rouge ordered their dinner as he got ready to do the dishes.
"Well then, sounds like we got to finish the dishes quickly," he said with a smile as she hung up the phone, "shall we get to it? I am ready."

14
"Sure, sounds delicious," James nodded with a smile as he looked over the flyers, "and it is likely better than going for a finer place. Then we can finish the dishes while we wait, right?"

15
"I can do that," James said and put on an apron and pulled his sleeves up, "and that does sound delicious, Rouge. If you'd be so kind."
The music did sound lovely, although he didn't get why it would be put on. Still, he clearly enjoyed being in the bat's company as we started to wash the dishes. It was a nice break from the station, "what did you want to order, Rouge?"
