Tails caught her eye back, which of course then led to him catching her giving him a glance over although she was pretty sly about it, he chose not to say anything on it though to not draw attention on her like that, though it did bring a little colour to his cheeks again.
She had a point when it came to him sharing what clothing he had, he already had little bits of snow clumps in his hair and fur here and there, she also insisted and didn't give him a say on the matter, which was appreciated since he knew he would've insisted otherwise had she of not looped the scarf around both of them. "Heh, I guess you're right, thanks~" He'd smile before patting out some of the snow from his fur.
Sonya was making it surprisingly rather easy to help her stay up and for that he was glad as he didn't want to see her fall, "If I'm getting too close or anything like that, please let me know, okay?" He'd ask, offering her a reassuring smile, hoping it let her know he was comfortable.

He nodded, indeed she did. He laughed lightly at the following comment though, "Well that means a lot considering I've never been a husband yet" He'd ruffle his hair lightly as she glance away to hide her blushing face, which made him smile and glance aside as well to let her have that privacy, her locks were really as pretty as ever though.
When the fennec folded in and buried her face into his neck, letting her have the moment she needed to let it all out, Tails put his arms around her to provide comfort, holding her close to let her know he was here for her, giving her a gentle pat on the back as he shielded her from any onlookers as well as from the weather.
He gave her an understanding nod when she made it clear she'd like what he offered, holding onto her small frame and keeping her close, still trying to use his tails to blanket her as much as he could, the fox trudged along and did his best to make the trip to his place short and swift but still comfortable.

It wouldn't take too long until the fox had reached his cozy looking little home, which had a larger building, presumably one of his workshops, attached to the far side of it. Pushing his door open with a spare tail, Tails wandered them both inside, but only put Sonya down once the door was closed and once he was able to set her down on his rather soft couch. After he had set her down he disappeared down a short hallway for a moment before coming back with a big puffy blanket, which he'd gently place on top of her before then turning to light the small fireplace he had. His place wasn't overly large or anything despite the fact he could've easily of made it bigger or bought bigger given his status, but if he lived alone like he did, there probably wasn't much point for him to have bigger, or at least Tails thought so.
Wandering into his smallish kitchen the fox then began to make some hot chocolates for the two, making sure to bring out a bag of soft marshmallows as well, "Are you warm enough?" He'd ask the fennec, they could talk all they wanted once he made sure she was comfortable and warm.

Tails watched the crocodile fall over clumsily, his tail swoop having the effect he wanted it to. He wasn't aiming to hurt the other mobian, just wanting to get him to back off from his friend. Once the croc was landed, grumbling with upset, Tails turned back to Sonya and saw her rub one of her wrists, the one the croc had been holding onto a bit too tightly, he seemed a little anxious for her about it but trusted it was alright for now, if not she could show him better once outside. When they got glared at, Tails raised a brow and shot back an unimpressed look, the crocodile looked tough, but that was it, just a look.
When Sonya said the next part though the fox couldn't help but to feel his face go a little hot as colour rushed to his cheeks he tried to force it down as much as he could though, thinking she had just said it only to push more for the married facade. It still didn't stop his twin tails from swirling a bit and his ears from pricking up though.

"Could I get a small cup of water please" He'd ask the bartender who was quick to give him one, he'd wrap a tail around it, holding the apple juice in the other hand as Sonya took hold of the free hand rather quickly to his surprise. Seeing the pink over her muzzle and hearing what came next, it wasn't too hard to work out she had, had a drink or two, but that was what the water he'd gotten was for. He'd nod his head to her and smiled, "I can assure you that what's hot in here is indeed you" He'd wink a rather cheeky grin for a moment before then carefully leading her outside of the bar, closing the door behind her.
At first he didn't say anything and simply continued to walk himself and her away from the establishment, steadily taking her along the sidewalk, it was only until they were alone and a fair distance from the bar that he eventually spoke up, giving her hand a gentle, comforting squeeze. "Are you alright? He didn't hurt you did he?" He'd ask, as his blue eyes went back to the wrist she had rubbed earlier. "Do you wanna talk about why you were there? Or would you rather not?" He hoped he wasn't giving her too many questions at once, he didn't want to overwhelm her, so he left the questions there for now, wrapping his spare second tail around her figure to help keep her warm, as it was starting to get rather late into the evening at this point.

Shortly after Sonic made his call to Tails, the fox would answer, and almost right away began blurting out questions of his own, but after finishing his questions he'd pause to give his friend time to speak what he needed to as well as answer. By the sound of it, things seemed to be a bit chaotic on the fox's end as well.

["Sonic!? Where are you? Are you safe? I'm in the Tornado with Sonya and a friend, are you somewhere safe?]

Tails appreciated Sonya standing up for him and backing him up after he spoke, despite the anxiety she tended to have in situations she was standing up for him and for herself, this made him smile lightly. He also appreciated her firm shoulder squeeze after things got even more tense with Payback rolling onto the scene. His ears flicked as he listened to her whispers as she tried to answer his question, at first she couldn't quite remember and he didn't blame her, alot was going on right now and her thoughts were probably going a mile a minute. Eventually though she remembered something and mentioned it to him. The Great Forest huh? "_{Right, thank you! Now I know where to stay away from}" He'd give the Fennec a thumbs up in a similar fashion to what Sonic did. He had a thought to call Sonic, but right now that probably would've just endangered the both of them more so, he wasn't about to give away Sonic's position here either.
His ears sprung up when he felt something being pressed into his hands from behind, giving a quick glance back before smiling seeing that it was Sonya who had gotten his helmet and goggles for him. Silently he thanked her for doing this discreetly as he would've had to make a break for it otherwise. "_{I know, I don't either, but we'll be alright}" He'd reassure her again, but he felt the same way, nothing was very right about this situation.

He appreciated Viola elaborating but right now he had to tread carefully. He nodded when the hedgehog tried to explain the situation more, "Pretty names are tainted if the person behind the name aren't so pretty on the inside, honestly though I've never heard of her" He thought it odd though, sure he and Sonic had, had people after them before but usually those people went after them themselves rather then getting civilians to do the dirty work for them. "So this no title villain swindled her way onto the news, says she wants Sonic and I, but doesn't say why and throws in a threat to cause panic" He shook his head, "Someone who's too much of a coward to get us themselves, let alone sit behind a screen to say their message, can't offer you guys anything, she sounds like a back-stabbing coward if you asked me, she has nothing to offer you but a chance of not being hurt, hurt she didn't even prove she could do in the first place mind you" He rubbed behind his head a little, before casually placing his helmet and goggles on top of his head, as he usually wore them like that anyway, he'd just taken them off to work on his plane. "I'm honoured you look up to me honestly Viola, but I'm sure you understand the kind of situation I'm in at the moment" He felt bad to not put trust, but trust was earnt.

Looking back to Reck, the fox flicked his twin tails, "Well I made some of these tools myself actually!" He tried not to sound too gleeful but he was happy to have someone of similar interest talking about his work. Things sort of changed when Reck was shot at and his book was hit causing him to lash out at Payback. Tails stood forward when things started to get tense and Reck threatened to turn Payback into a pile of ash, "Hey! Calm down guys come on, now isn't the time for this" He also, didn't want anything in his workshop caught in the crossfire. When Reck explained exactly what he was here for, Tails crossed his arms. "I'm not going anywhere, and villains threatening people's lives is my job, which you're threatening in trying to take me to this Lunette person" When the vines came out, Tails raised ever so slightly the welding tool he still had in his left hand, narrowing his eyes before relaxing a bit as Reck grabbed the book. "If that's true, you're risking a non-magical users life to try and do your job, how is that dignified? You can't even prove she is capable of doing what she claims to do Reck. Don't buy into her fake threats" He understood that this situation was tricky, but hoped maybe his and Sonic's past actions would speak for themselves. "Listen, we all don't want what she threatens to happen, I sure don't, but we don't need to give her what she wants to achieve that safety." He'd huff lightly, "Sonic and I have dealt with many villains in the past, worse ones then her, she wants you guys to take us out because of this and because she knows we wont hurt the people we fight so hard to protect-" When Reck started to smoke, Tails gave an annoyed sound, before wandering over the one side of the workshop and hitting a button to open the hanger doors that were positioned on the wall in front of the plane. "I'd prefer that be done outside but for you I'll let it slide this once"

Payback's response to all that went on was oddly surprising and intriguing to Tails. "To be fair Payback, I don't know who it is under that helmet of yours either, I just have a lot of trust in Knuckles" He'd say, giving them a questioning look, they did seem to be here to protect him, but again, he couldn't be sure in full. His conscious was full of thoughts, should he jump in the plane? He could probably take himself and Sonya on it easily enough and the wings were safe to perch on as well, but it was better to have one on each side to balance the weight, should he trust Payback as much as Knuckles did? He'd feel bad if he left behind an ally or friend. It was a tough thing to think about.
He'd look back to Tentei, "I don't trust her to keep her end of the deal either detective, I can understand the fear, though I do wish some people would be more rational about it" He'd sigh lightly, "Love him or hate him, I think we can all agree that Sonic is a bit of a Peace Symbol for Mobius, if he was taken away like when Infinite did, the results wouldn't be pretty, I mean last time you all know it resulted in a war, I don't think we need a second one, especially not right after cleaning up the first one" He gave the detective a nod, "It was three days right? We have time to think on it a bit more, don't worry" He'd smile reassuringly, before listening again to him, as he provided more information on the situation.
What he said was interesting, and made Tails think for a moment. So they couldn't go through the portal without him and Sonic and the water mentioned earlier was the lake of rings by the sounds of it, "That does help it sounds like the Lake of Rings. Oddly specific of her. Hmmm" He tapped his chin. The offer for somewhere else was nice too "That sounds helpful Tentei, thank you, getting there unfollowed is the only problem" He'd shift his eyes to Reck again.

Tails became increasingly surprised when he found both Tentei and Sonya putting themselves in front of him to defend him, he tilted his head a little but honestly appreciated the trust people seemed to put in him. "You don't have to fight us Reck, it doesn't have to come to that, we all want the same thing" His eyes lit up for a moment, "When all this is sorted, maybe we could have a go at building some cool things together even!" He then cleared his throat a little, thinking he'd sounded a bit gleeful again. At least that is until the sirens started to be heard. "We need to go" Tails swiftly turned and as gently as he could manage to, scooped the Fennec fox up into his arms, twirling his tails to get himself into the air before landing on his plane, standing on the front seat so he could slip her into the back which he did carefully, unhooking a small compartment on the back of his pilot seat for her which would fall open, revealing a spare set of pilot goggles. Tails then started the plane and noticed on the small screen monitor that it was picking up on something, it was faint but it was there. Was it Eggman drones? No, surely not right? "I'm not about to stick around and find out what it's like to be arrested so, Tentei, Payback, you can either perch on the wings of the Tornado or take the detectives vehicle to follow or in your case, detective, lead the way" He then looked to Viola and Reck, "If you're both genuine and want to find a fix to all of this OTHER then to hand Sonic and I over, maybe the detective will give you a lift over, or perhaps you could find a way to steer the police off our trail and follow after?" He sat himself in his pilot seat and pulled on his goggles, "I believe that both of you can do good here, prove me right" By now the plane's front propeller was going quick enough to take off, and Tails was ready to, he gave a few seconds warning in case others were joining on the wings but it was a only a brief amount of time, he wasn't about to wait for unwelcomed guests to try and climb on board as well. "The Tornado is picking up on four unknown flying objects as well, I can't make out what they are or exactly where so keep your eyes peeled!"

This evening was spent much like most other evenings for the twin tailed fox, in his workshop building, fixing and inventing. Tonight he chose to do some patch ups on his plane while overlooking some blueprints he had laid out on his workbench that weren't quite finished and in need of some attention. Like usual though, his beloved plane came first.

Flicking down his metal face plate and slipping on some ear muffs, the fox steadily got to work on melding some metal parts together to go on his plane, and due to his focus on his work and all the noise it made, he would miss a rather important announcement as it came onto the news on TV..
For now, Tails was relaxed and enjoying his moment of peace and quiet, spending time with friends was always great but he also liked to kick back and have some time to himself and his inventions. Today was that time for him now.

The golden furred two tailed fox certainly felt overjoyed to see an invite from Sonya to hang out at the skate rink today, and he sure wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to spend time with Sonya and their friends, that was for sure. But boy he did feel bad that he was late! He had a checklist of things to quickly do before grabbing his ice skates and heading off to the rink, hoping his friend would forgive him for arriving at such a late time. He of course would be using his own personally made ice skates though, the fox seemed to enjoy making his own things for even the simplest of situations.
Finally arriving at the rink, the boy would tie on his odd looking skates, they still looked like his casual shoes but more fancy, with a frosted snowflake pattern that faded into the red of his shoe and decked out for the cold weathers and of course with the skates on the bottom. With his ice skates now on he would wobble himself back up onto his feet and look rather proud of his self-made skates for a moment before then taking a look around for Sonya and friends.

While he did notice the rink wasn't empty of course and Rouge was a somewhat familiar face, he didn't see the friend who had invited him in the first place and going on without her simply would not do! He hadn't been here very often and certainly not recently, but he did recall they had a cafe just upstairs, maybe she went there for a break? He really hoped she hadn't left yet.
Taking in a deep breath, he'd wobble and waddle his way up to the cafe, when he got there he still could not see Sonya though as she'd excused herself to the bathroom by the time he made it up. He looked a little disheartened feeling as though maybe she had headed home already and he had been too late, but he was here now anyway and the cafe always had really tasty looking treats. Deciding to get something for himself, he'd wave to the purple hedgehog and who she was with as he passed. The little duck seemed familiar in some way... "Hey uh-" If he couldn't find her, maybe he could ask around at least? He'd stop by where the small group was, "Sorry to interrupt! I'm looking for a friend of mine, she's a fennec fox called Sonya, she's about this tall and has a creamy coloured coat, very pretty and has sky blue eyes, has she been here by any chance?"

Tails listened carefully as Shadow explained where he had been recently and how he had examined his shoes and thought there to be something loose inside of them. "I see, I see" He'd murmur, curious to find out exactly what was the source of Shadow's shoe problem. When the footwear was placed on the table, the fox would get to work, bringing them closer to him on the desk before looking over their top and then flipping to check the bottom, picking them up individually to give them a shake, listening. Sure enough, he heard what sounded like something loose from the inside. "Well it looks like you're right, it seems to be an inside problem" The fox would look to the hedgehog before kneeling down and pulling out a smaller sized toolbox, which he then set up on the workbench. "Do you mind if I open them up to try and get a look?" He'd ask, better to ask first just in case right? "If you don't mind me asking also... Who made these for you? They're very well crafted" It was so odd, hearing how Shadow was to Sonic, and then actually spending time with Shadow, who Sonic described to be Shadow sounded nothing like how the hedgehog was being in the moment.

Hearing a hefty knock at his workshop door, the fox's right ear would flick. Who could that be? He was sure the majority of his friends were busy today, guess one wasn't as busy as he thought!
Tails would wander over to his door and open it, flipping up his protective face shield in the process so he could see who it was, the young boy would have perfectly golden yellow and white fur where the shield had just been but just about everywhere else on him was dirty in some way or scorched with black ash from whatever he had just been doing. He seemed rather surprised to see Shadow too, that was for sure. "Shadow!" He'd take a step back at first, remembering what Sonic had said about the other hedgehog, before then pushing the thoughts aside and offering for the hedgehog to come in. Sonic was his best friend but even he was wrong about some people. "What brings you here? Is everything alright?" The fox would ask sounding curious, eager to know what brought Shadow of all people to his workshop.
